Coat Progress: Bodice assembled

Moving right along, my bodice is now assembled as well as the lower coat.  The topstitching is done and I now need to attach the waistband.

Those black things peeking out of the 'skirt' are the pockets.

For those who are interested, here is a view of the inside of the bodice before I sewed the shoulder seams. You can see the hand basted hair canvas interfacing.  I bought a pair of duck-billed applique scissors and trimmed the interfacing so it would be out of the seam allowances everywhere except in the armhole.  I read that you should not trim the interfacing at the armhole because it will help support the sleeve.  I wasn't very accurate with my trimming and the hair canvas was caught in my seams in a few places.  This made it very difficult to press the seams flat so I went back and trimmed it away where I could.  A word to the wise: don't eyeball the 5/8" seam allowance when trimming the interfacing, measure it!

Time to go sew some more! :)
